Portland software developers ratchet up their open source ambitions
Luke Kanies is turning pro. The Reed College alum was 29 when he created an open source software tool called Puppet for managing data centers and other big computer networks. Collaborative Software Foundation has taken over maintenance of the Ruby-HL7 gem.
As the primary open-source HL7 interface for the Ruby programming language, Ruby-HL7 plays a critical role in public health applications. Some code from TriSano® that was closely related to processing HL7, notably processing of HL7 batch messages, has been moved to the gem for the benefit of other clients. The Collaborative Software Foundation has also recently taken over maintenance of the Ruby-HL7 gem.
